Spring 2022 Ready-To-Wear Fashion Shows
Several Ready-to-Wear Fashion Shows are taking place around the world this spring. This includes the likes of Virgil Abloh, Miu Miu, L’Oreal Paris, Missoni, and Balmain.
Miu Miu
Whether you’re familiar with Miu Miu or not, it’s likely that you know that the brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection was one of the most highly anticipated fashion shows of the year. With a lineup that included Isadora Barney, Bella Hadid, Miranda July, and Esther McGregor, it was no wonder that the line’s collection was the talk of Paris Fashion Week.
The Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear show was a mix of futuristic and retro styles. The show featured a variety of silk garments, including midi-dresses and two-piece sets. The designs also featured a muted color palette and a utilitarian aesthetic.
The designers of the Miu Miu Spring/Summer collection teamed up with Moroccan artist Meriem Bennani for a series of artistic interventions. Her work was featured on binocular-shaped screens installed in the Palais d’Iena. Her filmic artistic interventions explored the relationship between women and fashion.
Missoni
Whether it was a full scale runway show, a fashion exhibition or a televised awards ceremony, Milan Fashion Week is always a smorgasbord of powerhouse brands. The Missoni Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear Fashion shows was no exception.
The runway show was a riot of colors and textures. There were sexy one-piece swimsuits and crisscross scarf-tops, and of course the signature fiammato. Among the many new and old Missoni looks were two-strap sandals, crocheted bags, and low-waisted trousers. Those were the most obvious, but there were also the most interesting.
The show also boasted the most sexy shoes, featuring five-inch heels. The best part was that they were the same material as the rest of the collection, so they looked great on all models.
Balmain
During Paris Fashion Week, Balmain hosted a fashion show, which was modeled after a music festival. It was a celebration of fashion, music, food and charity. It was also a celebration of Olivier Rousteing, who is the creative director of Balmain.
The show featured 64 exquisitely designed looks. Many of the models walked the runway in pieces that were modeled after sculptural silhouettes. There were many large brimmed hats and gold earrings.
A lot of the prints were abstract or Renaissance painting motifs. The collection was a combination of ready-to-wear and couture. There were also some edgy tailoring and playfulness in the designs. The collection drew from various eras, from the Renaissance to the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s.
Tory Burch
During the spring 2022 ready-to-wear fashion show, Tory Burch celebrated the legacy of female fashion designer Claire McCardell. Her designs encouraged self-expression, and helped women feel unencumbered. She was a pioneer in the sportswear industry, and invented the first American ballet flats decades before Tory Burch.
Inspired by her muse, Claire McCardell, the Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2023 collection is a modern take on a classic ode. The collection includes sculptural silver jewelry, sharp architectural prints, rich saturated colors, and easy-to-wear cotton dresses.
The collection also includes a number of notable pieces, such as a silk chiffon skirt in bright orange and a color-blocked jersey dress. It’s a testament to McCardell’s influence on fashion that Tory Burch has included several of her designs in her collection.
L’Oreal Paris
During Paris Fashion Week 2022, the cosmetics giant L’Oreal Paris will organise its traditional Paris fashion show at the Ecole Militaire. The show will be open to the public and will feature a number of recognizable names.
The show will feature a strong theme of empowering women, with an emphasis on the brand’s global ambassadors. The line-up of notable women includes Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell, Kat Graham, Leila Bekhti, and Camille Razat.
The runway show will play on the brand’s slogan ‘Because You’re Worth It’. It will also highlight the Stand Up Against Street Harassment initiative. In addition, the show will showcase the Spring/Summer 2022 collection of L’Oreal. The collection features bold color and a sense of sophistication.
Virgil Abloh
Virgil Abloh’s last two runway shows for Off-White were a spectacular send off to a talented designer. His SS2022 collection was an emotional and heartwarming tribute. The collection featured an immersive, dreamlike runway experience. It was titled Spaceship Earth: an Imaginary Experience.
In addition to the show’s visuals, there were several musical elements. The show was scored by Tyler the Creator, who composed music for the show. Live music was also performed by a Beijing-based instrumental band, Sleeping Dogs. The look featured wireless loudspeakers inside backpacks.
Virgil Abloh’s final show was a homage to his LV heritage. He was credited as the men’s artistic director of the brand in March of this year. The show’s theme was a nod to Louis Vuitton’s ancestral home in Asnieres, France. The collection was a fusion of LV’s classics and modern interpretations.
